Game Information...INTRODUCTION Playing the CD-ROM game, "Death Gate," is a great way to bring the novels of Weis and Hickman to life with sight and sound. The game, created by Glen Dahlgren for Legend (tm) Entertainment, provides hours of entertainment while deepening the impressions left by the "Death Gate Cycle" novels' characters, settings and themes. Dahlgren himself is a fan of Weis and Hickman's work. When he set out to design a game based on the "Death Gate Cycle" series, he had a monumental task to perform, as the series interweaves many plot lines happening simultaneously...not the easiest of scenarios from which to carve a game story outline! From the publication, "Death Gate: The Official Hint Book from Legend Entertainment Company,"* Dahlgren explains his view of the design process. "Who wants to quest to recover the magic frob if instead you could save the world? How fulfilling would the game be if you missed out on even one of the magical realms? If you didn't encounter Zifnab _and_ Lord Xar _and_ Sang-Drax? The overall plot is what tied every little thread together, and that is what I wanted the player to experience" (p.6). GAME SPECIFICATIONS Game requires an IBM compatible computer/80386 processor or better/4 MB of memory/MS-DOS version 5.0 or better/Super VGA or VGA graphics adapter (Hint book, p. 3) and, of course, a CD-ROM drive. A quality sound application is a definite plus! Patience and cunning are desirable, but not required, as a complete walkthrough of the game is available in the hint book...try it solo first! The hint book also includes a "Fun Things to Try" section to experience alternative interaction with characters and objects in the game. *DEATH GATE: THE OFFICIAL HINT BOOK FROM LEGEND ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY Chantilly, VA: Legend Entertainment, 1994.
